  4. As a matter of interest I took the LSRM-A 120 hours course at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave VA a few years ago. I completed course to work on my own aircraft and found it very educational and useful. I don’t know if it’s still offered. The teachers there are very experienced. I highly recommend the course. IMO the course is good for people who know what they are doing. No one is going to be a skilled mechanic in a couple of weeks. How many out there would fly in an airplane serviced by such an individual with 3 weeks training?
  5. Ah the camel has already got his nose under the tent. I don’t believe LSA instruments are certified for IFR. IMO light general aircraft can spring a few surprises when loaded to gross. Problem: how does one tell that very portly lady, you can’t take her flying in the little 2 seater.
  6. I placed a heavy duty 30 amp fused cigar lighter receptacle through the firewall, wired directly to battery. Was able to jump a dead battery a few times with one of those Lithium lightweight jumper packs from Homedepot. Makes it very safe doing a jumper start from the Pilot seat and no one is the wiser. One can also charge without Master switch on.

  8. Just seen this post. I see you are using a LiFe battery. These LiFe batteries typically have a built in BMS (Battery Management System) that may be defective and causing issues with other electronic components. To isolate this problem disconnect LiFe battery. Now connect to regular lead battery using cables. If problem goes away, then issue is with LiFe battery. Doesn’t hurt to try considering most other efforts have been tried.

  11. Remove screws one at a time, clean and cover with dielectric grease. That way no mistakes reconnecting located behind Dynon

  14. This is just my experience. I occasionally get calls from Rotax owners wanting conditional inspections. It seems to be an issue finding an A&P willing to take them on. A few colleagues in the business, tell me it is not worth the effort to take required Rotax courses and Recurring training for the smaller numbers. We keep busy with Lycomming and Continentals. At FRG on Long Island we have 238 single engine aircraft based and many A&Ps. Don’t break down here with a Rotax engine or you may have to trailer it out. Would not be the first time. I love the engine. Just too bad for expansion of Rotax use.
