  1. The new component is ADSb out. Echo UAT. I know it works cause I always see ground stations and traffic but I don't know where its located or how to tell that it is off.
  2. With my meter set to miliAmps and the negative battery wire disconnected I plut the leads from the negative battery post to the negative battery wire and it reads 160 mA. How can I go about finding this drain?
  3. There is a small keep alive on a spade connector. There are two big wires one on the right post to the batter and one on the left post that you can see in this photo on the left post mated to the wire from the battery. I will pull the keep alive but as I said there are 2 big ones, one ouput from the relay they other on the input post.
  4. Anticept, Visually I see one big gauage wire going to starter but another on the left post mated to the wire from the battery goes into a wire harness. Like the starter current and keep alive current goe through the relay but everything else bypasses it. It sure doesn't look to my eye like everything branches from the lead to the starter. Mechanic says same as you and replaced relay but drain remains. I'm pretty sure he read amps not volts and didn't use a resistor.
  5. I just bought the 3rd battery. One after the other gets deep discharged if not tended. Maybe this has been happening since I got the Uavionix Echo ADSb out. I don't know how it's switched or how to confirm its off. The discahrge is at a rate that seems like a radio left on. Maybe it gets power from the wrong side of the battery master switch?
  6. Mechanic said it was my starter relay permitting current draw when parked overnight so we replaced. The overnight discharge continues. After 2 nights without a battery tender battery discharged to 10.5 volts. Mechanic asked me to disconnect the keep alive wire from the starter relay and see if batter stays up like that. Any help on how best to trouble shoot and correct this?
  7. Okay, I'll try to talk my mechanic into Tom's method/location. Please tell me where I can acquire a new filter in case my mechanic wants to be stubborn. Thanks
  8. Hey Roger. The location it came from is too difficult to access. We have decided to relocate onto the downtube where it will be extremely convienent. I want a 2nd one to cover both left and right.
  9. Where can I purchase another one of these filters?
  10. Thanks @Tom Baker it rains a lot on the Oregon Coast, I've been a seasonal flyer this year.
  11. Can the fuel filter (behind center panel with shut of valve) be inspected, cleaned and re-used?
  12. I found the belleville washer fix to be perfect and last for ever
  13. Mechanic said my starter relay is leaking amps. Which is the correct part and where can I purchase? Thanks
  14. I flew behind a warp drive for 15 years. I knew how to optimize pitch back in 2006 so my CT was fastest in the early years. Now I have a Sensinitch OMG! Huge upgrade.
  15. Everything revolves around the rpm limitation. Here there is a smaller comprise between climb in cruise. You could pitch to realize 5,800 in your initial climb and you would almost certainly need to retard the throttle to cruise at 5,500 so your cruise would be less than best while initial climb is optimized. Climb performance tends to be so far above other aircraft and hence runways are extra long for us that we all optimize for something more like best cruise speed over best climb. Because your 5,500 rpm limitation comes into play you want the WOT RPM that you achieve 'eventually'
  16. Limiting to 5350 leaves the higher / highest power settings unavailable. The compromise is between economy and best performance. You can use a flatter pitch and get both better climb and better cruise performance.
  17. battery went low, too low to start. no spike or Alternator issues.
  18. puls/rev mine are now set to 2 causing the 50% reading. thanks
  19. Thank you, thank you I see I am reading 44% or prop rpm.
  20. Yes. It is one of the 3 settings that I lost. The other two where number of CHT to 2 and number of egt to 2.
  21. My tach now shows prop RPM or 50% RPM something in that range. My EMS lost its configuration settings and the tach starting reading values near 50%. I updated the 3 Rotax specific settings but my tach still reads near 50%. Anyone know what might be happening here?
  22. I agree so in most conditions I arrive abeam with flap speed and chop the power and deploy flaps on downwind / abeam. At 40 degrees I want close to calm winds and with speed under 50kts the pattern is tight without a slip. At 30 degrees and 55kts its still kinda tight. I often slip too.
  23. I have not found the drain. I just put a third new battery in and now that it is installed my smart 5amp Genius tender never gets to maintenance mode (still flashing green 100%). Prior to installing the same charger did get all the way to maintenance mode (solid green 100%) With the batt master on and D100 I see a -1 or -2 amp discharge going on and I assume this is at least partly the D100. IF I turn off all the breakers 1 at a time nothing happens except when I get to the D100 breaker. Can someone please tell me how to locate the drain? I do have a new ADSb out radio installed that I never interface with.
