  1. Both BRS and flight design have specific instructions on chute/rocket removal. Just call BRS and they can point you in the right directions.
  2. Similar experience. Filled out online request for RA - no response, left phone message, no response, called tech support but no again.. Finally call back but took 5days to get a return authorization number. Hope the service goes better.
  3. Hook up the dangle thingy and the codes should tell you the reason for the lights. I have had probs with the B light on after start but it goes out with a run up. Just the light, the systems were always working. Have not had the problem your describing. The coldest I have started is around 25 deg and no problems occurred.
  4. Welcome Chuck. Wealth of knowledge on this site.
  5. Closed to air carrier ops not gen aviation
  6. I may make it Friday am for a while.
  7. I will drive over from St Louis and be there somewhere around 9:30 plus or minus a little. Will head for the airport.
  8. I could make the 2nd Over and back from stl but driving. Planes are in Tucson this summer, that’s why I’m heading back there in July. I can also accommodate airhound.
  9. So sad here. I’m back to AZ 5 or 6 July or I would have been there.
  10. I had to replace a lithium battery on a CT and discovered I had to get a different battery from Earth x and a new battery box because the battery would not fit into the old battery box. Don't know your situation but you might look into new battery and box at earthx
  11. I am so tired of cutting the grass, fallen down trees, weed wacking, spraying etc... Did you get my message on the pitot covers for the CT and cessna when convenient?
  12. I seldom get into these conversations but I have taught people how to fly in CT’s, Hu-16’s, King Airs, C130’s, MD 80’s and 727’s just to name a few. My personal opinion is landing the CT is most like landing a 727. I think if you Just think a little back pressure in your landing, you will be just fine. I think where people have problems is when they try to”flare” the CT. If you are carrying any extra airspeed, all the flare does is cause you to balloon and we all know that is not a good thing. I think if you get down to the proper altitude and just barely bring the stick back for the landing, you will have a good landing whether you are attempting a power off or power on landing. The power off or power on scenario just determines how far down the runway you will touchdown. I think that technique will hold true for any flap setting you choose. Having said that, for all you newbies out there, the CTLS or SW are not nearly as Docile to land as a piper or Cessna so Don’t expect to master the landings the first day or so….
  13. I would call Dynon. They have IFR certified equipment.
  14. Another plane down. Folks on board OK. https://www.staradvertiser.com/2022/01/15/breaking-news/2-men-injured-in-plane-crash-near-hana-airport/
  15. “Or at any other particular time”. I always make sure it’s set properly for takeoff. Small point of order. I agree ~ Trim should be adjusted in flight as required.
  16. If your looking for inches better performance on takeoff, start off with flaps zero and place to desired position/airspeed when you want (small lead time) to get airborne. That gives you less drag during acceleration and the plane just "pops" off the ground.
  17. In the search menu on this site look for “Alaska 2014” by Duane Jefts”. That thread covers a several week journey from Tucson, AZ to Pt Barrow AK and back and many points in between. The CT is a most capable airplane as you will see.
  18. Congrats on “joining the club”. I plan on flying to Kalispell in a couple weeks from Tucson, AZ. If it works I would be happy to stop by for a chat.
  19. BRS landing in the water - I’m unlatching the doors and holding them closed until impact.
  20. Complicated question with many possible answers. Would need weather conditions as well as sea Condition to make a judgment Call. If the wind conditions over the water are 40 kts And you landed into the wind then you can theoretically touchdown at zero ground speed. Under the same conditions if you pull the chute, Then you would hit the water at 40 kts Ground speed, or water speed if you prefer. In my Coast Guard career I have seen a number of airplanes land in the ocean. In a tricycle gear like a CT you can expect to be upside down in your seatbelt and that is not an easy position to get out of unless you have your seatbelt cutter handy. There are a lot more considerations but I will leave you with this information for now.
