Hi,

Jeremy has just completed the 600hr Gearbox inspection for me. Nice, fast work, despite my sending the box in

just before the Page weekend. He kept me apprised of the status, and even provided pictures of the internals

of the gearbox. Nicely done. I'll be re-mounting the part today.

I suggest you contact Jeremy for your heavy maintenance needs.

Reach out to Jeremy, he is great, honest and understands we don't have unlimited funds.  I've been very pleased with his service, work and log entries.

He's done a few minor things for me as well as this last annual in Feb 2021.

PM me if you need his contact info.

This will be educational for us.  My non-technical understanding is that the slipper clutch in the gearbox supposedly prevents engine damage form prop strikes.  I don't recall seeing a post on our forum from someone who has gone thru a prop strike.  Besides Jeremy, I would guess Jim, Tom and Roger might have dealt with this on 912 engines.  Please keep us informed as to the resolution of your situation.

I had a customer with a prop strike 10 years ago. ground crew set a orange traffic cone on the ground in front of the airplane and he forgot to move it. once sitting in the airplane he couldn't see it and fired up taxiing into it. He was on the road, so I didn't have to deal with it. What I remember was a gearbox inspection, and a run out check on the end of the crankshaft. Oh, and of course replacing 3 prop blades.

Well, a traffic cone is not exactly a worthy opponent to the mighty Rotax engine... I am curious what sort of damage would be inflicted with a more substantial prop strike ( a concrete pole or some kind of pavement ) ?

Traffic cone or concrete pole doesn't really matter, because the propeller blade becomes the weak link in determining how much force is applied to the engine.
