What do I need to fly Solo?

As long as you are not currently denied a medical then all you need is a valid drivers license and to self certify that you are fit to fly.

You already have a certificate so there will be no solo only stage you can fly with a passenger you only need to satisfy the owner and insurance company.

It is a good idea to get some transition training, CT's do not land like traditional GA aircraft.

.... and a BFR.

You're doing basically what I did ~5 years ago after taking a few years off from flying.

I believe I did 3 lessons totaling 4+ hrs (in an Evektor Sportstar) at which time I was signed off for my BFR and felt fairly confident I could actually fly a plane again. I followed with 5+ hours of transition training when I bought my LSA a few months later.

What both of these guys said is correct. You will still be a commercial pilot. You don't change to a sport pilot. Just like when you were flying before and your second class medical expired after 1 year you could still fly under private pilot privileges and limitations. Now with the medical expired you can fly under sport pilot privileges and limitations. You need as you always did a current flight review. Also as mentioned you needed to have been issued the last medical you applied for to be able to self certify using a valid state drivers license.

Thank you all for the help. I'm building a Zenith 750 and should have it flying next spring.

I have been to Arizona several times. I like to do a little treasure hunting and Arizona is a good place. I just haven't had any luck yet but I will be back.

Thanks again

Bullseye,

The best thing to do is try to get some stick time in another 750, even if you have to pay for it. Nothing beats flying the same model that you will fly. Don't assume that how some fly a Skycatcher or Remos is how you should fly a 750.
