Ed Cesnalis
Star Insurance wanted a $300+ increase so I am switching to Chartis at $1,310. Looks like we are seeing fewer carriers and higher prices? Cost of composite repair is the issue I believe.
sandpiper
I just switched from Avemco to Falcon. For the usual liability plus $115K hull they get $1606. A savings over Avemco plus they don't care if I go ELSA.
CT4ME
I dropped my hull coverage from $100K to $85K and mine is down ($200) to $1365. Chartis Aero, no deductibles, no limitations, with open pilot option. $1million/$100K/$5K. Through John at A.I.R. tim
2FlyAgain
I also have similar coverage with Chartis Aero. Mine is maybe a $100 more...even though the hull value is only $72K. I suspect that this is reasonable since I only had 25 hours in make and model at the time of application last December. Does anybody know how much it costs to have higher coverage for passenger injury and medical expenses? Thanks, --Mark
Jim Meade
Mine is "in the mail" so we'll see what they came up with. I made no changes. Flew a little less than 100 hours (very low for me) but completed a CFI refresher and WINGS phase.
CT4ME
I had to remind them (AIR/Chartis) to fix the wording again... the policy uses terminology for certified aircraft, so it continually refers to "standard airworthiness certificate". LSA use a "Special Airworthiness Certificate". Last year they added a "LAD-18" endorsement which fixed the wording. (thanx Philip for catching this last year) tim
dick747
Just bought a 2008 LS and am getting insurance quotes. Chartis quotes through A. I. R. have been mentioned in this stream. Would like to contact them. Who is A. I. R.?

FlyingMonkey
Chris Wolbert at Aviation Insurance Resources just got me policy with USAIG for $1414, no deductibles. Pretty good for a pilot with about 50 hours total and five in type I thought. Outstanding customer service and very fast responses from Chris as well.
