I believe I called TMobile in August to add $10 to keep it active for 3 more months. Will double check. And I believe Phil can use a SIM card from any carrier, T-Mobile just happens to be cheapest. switchbox Posted October 18, 2013 Author Report Share Posted October 18, 2013 We're getting a lot of orders from the Midwest now, and all are shipped out if you've ordered this week ---- Any GSM sim card will work from any provider, but T-Mobile is still the cheapest and great option. We supply those with each unit. A lot of pilots in Europe, Canada and Africa are all using the SwitchBox and TMobile still. It works out to still be the cheapest even internationally because it uses $0 credit for phone calls. The cost for the whole year is about $20-$30 if you pay on time. Some hangars don't receive cell signal either because of their heavy metallic construction (ohio state university airport), and a remote cell antenna (or a wifi/wired module!) could instead be used. This is definitely one of the most creative uses for the SwitchBox yet. Check below for pictures. He is remote starting a large 220V extrusion machine in his warehouse, saving a lot of time/labor.
