Sport Pilot
The proposed bill does not affect LSA or Sport Pilots in any way. The proposal allows Privates and higher (non-commercial operations) to fly certain standard certificated aircraft with a driver's license medical. Hopefully, this would also allow students (or Sport Pilots) to train and receive a Private with a driver's license medical, but I have not seen that spelled out anywhere. Surely, it would. Doug G.
If you have floats on your CTLS the MTOW magically increases!
Tom Baker
If you have floats on your CTLS the MTOW magically increases! I think that is the same for most aircraft on floats. If set up properly the floats provide extra lift to help support their own weight, and that is the reason for the increase in gross weight. With the CTLS the increase is offset by the fact that the floats weigh almost twice what the increase is.
