Is there a place I can buy one, or do I have to go through FD (which I assumes is expensive)? I've looked at places like Aircraft Spruce; they have placards for amateur-built and experimentals, but not the one for a Special Light Sport. Any ideas? paul m Posted January 15, 2014 Report Share Posted January 15, 2014 Its in 2.12 of the CTLS POH with all the other required placards. Not sure of your vintage though. Email Matt at FD. Maybe not as expensive as you think if you want nicer looking ones. Bet you can also create some nice home versions with a computer and an arts and crafts store. I was looking at my Operating Limitations and it says you must advise passsengers of that warning. I wonder if just pointing to the placard fulfills that? or maybe you don't even need to point it out to fulfill the requirement as long as it's there? What I think I'm going to try is to get some adhesive labels for my laser printer and put the image of the placard onto an adhesive label. S3flyer Posted January 15, 2014 Report Share Posted January 15, 2014 Don't think it's technically legal: For all classes of S-LSA, the FAA-accepted ASTM consensus standard specifies a passenger warning placard is to be displayed that states “THIS AIRCRAFT WAS MANUFACTURED IN ACCORDANCE WITH LIGHT-SPORT AIRCRAFT AIRWORTHINESS STANDARDS AND DOES NOT CONFORM TO STANDARD CATEGORY AIRWORTHINESS REQUIREMENTS.” Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

FlyingMonkey Posted April 8, 2014 Author Report Share Posted April 8, 2014 Thread resurrect! For my passenger placard, I didn't want to pay for a FD sticker, because I knew it would be overpriced. And I didn't want to make one myself, because I knew it would look kind of hacked together. So I went to plaquemaker.com and had one made of engraved plastic, white letters on a smoke gray background, 2x4 inches. I think it came out great: At $17 is was more than I would have paid for the FD sticker (maybe!), but it looks really good and is solid and will never peel. If it comes off a new strip of double-sided tape fixes it right up. If anybody else wants one, I have the order code and they keep all their artwork files, so I can point you to them.
