If the weather cooperates, tomorrow I'm going to try out my new SkyGuardTWX transceiver.  I plan to make a round robin flight in the Atlanta area and try it out with Naviator and IFly GPS for Android on my Nexus 7 and maybe on my Asus TF700.

Thanks for the NOTAM!! :D

I don't suppose putting out a TFR will help you as you really want the traffic so you can test your new stuff! Have fun and hope it all works the way you want it to.

I haven't been able to fly since before Christmas! While the runway is passable, our single taxiway out to it is a mudbath, an unfortunate consequence of operating from a grass strip in an increasingly wet country LOL

Airbus may want to talk to you too and get a debrief with all that equipment-  :) Will all this equipment ensure you land at your intended destination or just 9 miles farther? - How do you operate all that and still pilot the aircraft?

My Mooney friend and I flew the SkyCatcher this afternoon to try out the SkyGuard.  We used IFly GPS for Android first, then Naviator.  Both seemed to work pretty flawlessly.  The black diamonds are Naviator.

Why does traffic in some screen shots show up as diamonds, and in others as triangles (I'm assuming indicating direction of travel)?

EDIT: nevermind, I see you are running two different apps. I was looking at the screenies and didn't fully read what you wrote. :)

I briefly tried out the iFly app for iPad and it shows a lot of promise but won't replace FF (for me). The charts are very well done from a clarity perspective but it lacks several key features (for me):

* Landscape mode

* Seamless charts -- works like paper charts as opposed to one continuous chart that auto switches between TAC and Sectionals

* No iPhone version

* Cannot file a flight plan nor get a tracked weather briefing (actually pulling a briefing down with your DUAT id)

* I couldn't figure out if (or how to get) a flight plan factors in winds aloft

All of these are on the 'list' of enhancements according to iFly and, given their track record, will be available in few short months.  FF expires in October for me so I've got some time.

Usability was fine and the airport images are a nice touch. Once they address the above, I'll give it another try.
