FlyingMonkey
Hey all... Here's a weird one...I had the tip (everything ahead of the first plastic ring) of an audio cable break off *inside* the audio in jack on my CT's panel. I tried fishing the busted part out with needle nose pliers and tweezers, no joy. Looking at the backside, there are a lot of wires going into the jack and a big glob of clear silicone holding it all in place. How hard would this be to replace? I don't really listen to music in flight, but might like to on longer flights and might also like to plug my iPad into it for terrain and obstacle alerts, etc. Ideas? Anticept
Put a *tiny* dab of quick drying superglue on the tip of a rod, and push it down in. Wait for it to dry, and withdraw the broken tip. You must absolutely use a tiny bit. You don't want to leave a glob in the jack, or now you will have a stuck rod.
FlyingMonkey
I will try it, thanks!
FastEddieB
If that doesn't work, I have both a propane torch and a ShopVac at my hangar. I'm sure we can some up with something!
chanik
It's a basic mono 3.5mm jack http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/35PM2A/SC1456-ND/1288954
Roger Lee
It may may accessible from the rear of the jack. If not radio Shack has them and they are a piece of cake to install.
Skywalker
Having trouble with mic intermittently cutting out .Im told that it may be shorting out .It is in 2008 ctls and I believe its the 40 .Any thoughts . Also when I bought the plane there was a white strip of what appears to be white tape across the length of the horizontal stabilizer.A small part came up in a heavy rain and there doesn't appear to be anything beneath it . Ideas?
Roger Lee
The only place to have any tape that makes since on the stab is the gap on top and bottom that runs lengthwise.
Tom Baker
On the LS it has a built in Kevlar living hinge that is painted over. The tape is not needed, but will help keep the paint from cracking when the hinge moves.
Roger Lee
I've never seen anyone put tape on the LS stab trim pivot point.
Doug G.
I don't know who put it there, but my 2010 has the tape. I suspect it came from FD that way.
Anticept
Tape on both of ours too. It's purpose is so that nobody freaks out thinking their anti-servo trim tab is going to fall off due to the hairline cracks that are present in the paint. Doug G.
I wonder if FD calls it anti-freak out tape. :-)
Tip
My 2008 has always had the hinge taped.
FlyingMonkey
I thought all the CTs have the hinge between the stabilizer and the trim anti-servo tab taped... My 2007 CTSW does.

Tom Baker
I thought all the CTs have the hinge between the stabilizer and the trim anti-servo tab taped... My 2007 CTSW does. The way the CTLS is done is different than the CTSW.
FlyingMonkey
The way the CTLS is done is different than the CTSW. Well that 'splains it! It doesn't have a full span anti-servo tab? Or is it just attached differently?
Tom Baker
Well that 'splains it! It doesn't have a full span anti-servo tab? Or is it just attached differently? Both. It has a Kevlar hinge molded into the structure, which lets the paint flex when the trim tab moves.
