Audio Jack FUBAR

Hey all...

Here's a weird one...I had the tip (everything ahead of the first plastic ring) of an audio cable break off *inside* the audio in jack on my CT's panel.  I tried fishing the busted part out with needle nose pliers and tweezers, no joy.  Looking at the backside, there are a lot of wires going into the jack and a big glob of clear silicone holding it all in place.

How hard would this be to replace?  I don't really listen to music in flight, but might like to on longer flights and might also like to plug my iPad into it for terrain and obstacle alerts, etc.

Ideas?

Put a *tiny* dab of quick drying superglue on the tip of a rod, and push it down in. Wait for it to dry, and withdraw the broken tip.

You must absolutely use a tiny bit. You don't want to leave a glob in the jack, or now you will have a stuck rod.

Having trouble with mic intermittently cutting out .Im told that it may be shorting out .It is in 2008 ctls and I believe its the 40 .Any thoughts .

Also when I bought the plane there was a white strip of what appears to be white tape across the length of the horizontal stabilizer.A small part came up in a heavy rain and there doesn't appear to be anything beneath it . Ideas?
