Gear box inspection

At 1000 hours the gear box needs to be inspected. How many hours of work is it to remove and reinstall the gearbox along with a new fuel pump? I am thinking I may have been double charged for some of it.

The fuel pump needs to come off to remove the gearbox, so changing the pump should only be the time it takes to change the fuel lines and add the new drain line. That should be no more than an hour, and should take less than that. The gearbox removal and installation should be in the 2-3 hour range by the time you include cowling removal, installation, clean up the spilled oil, and checking the prop pitch. Roger can probably do in less time. I'm not sure on the time to do the actual gearbox inspection.

Once the box is off it is fairly straight forward and quick unless you have been using 100LL. The the clutch gets sent out to a distributor to be pulled apart and cleaned. This inspection then should have happened at 600 hrs. With a lot of 100LL use. If you have a 1500 hr TBO engine then it is 600 hrs. no matter what. If you have the 2000 hr. TBO then it could be the 600 or 1000 hr. Inspection. I get boxes sent to me fairly regular form all over and only a couple have been CT's.

Once you do something often enough speed just comes with it.
