D100 Atitude

Was flying straight and level today when my D100 suddenly changed to show me in a steep, uncoordinated, spiraling dive.  The airspeed, altimeter and heading for all correct.  I pulled the breaker and let it recycle but no luck.  After I landed, I let it sit for 30+ minutes, then flipped it on but still showed the same relative situation.  The screen was not frozen but it's straight and level image is considerably off.

I've dropped a note to Dynon support and expect I'll have to ship it off to them for $250.

Any thoughts?

Went back to the hangar today and the attitude display was still off so off to the factory it went.

I did notice that when I pulled the unit that the pressure line was connected to a tee that wasn't terminated. This would make the AI read low, right? The D100 has always read 2-4 knots below my analog backup. Perhaps this explains it?

Are you sure it wasn't terminated? Might have been plugged inside. It's got to be your static line if it wasn't plugged (cabin pressure is lower than static pressure due to effects of airflow around the aircraft "sucking" the air out), because you would have a really hard time with airspeed readings if it was the pitot line.

Anyways, a deviation in readings is typical. That's why we have IAS vs CAS. CAS adjusts for instrument and installation error.

Meant to close the loop. Dynon repaired the unit for no charge other than one-way shipping and it was multiple years out of warranty.

Also turned out that the Tee used to be terminated but the tubing actually broke when I removed the D-100. The original tubing was pretty brittle so I replaced most of the runs with some nice Tygon tubing. I think I actually fixed a small leak or two. My airspeed now reads the same across both the analog gauge and D100. Also, I used to have a 150' correction for altitude in the D100 and now I've reset the correction to 10'.
