Runtoeat
A friend said that he thought Challenger has gotten approval for use of their takeapart, reusable oil filter. I looked on their website and it says their filter has "approval" to be used on the Rotax 912 and 914 engines. Anyone know if this filter can be used on our 912ULS engines? http://challengeraviation.com/newproducts.html
Roger Lee
Approved by whom? Where on that site does it say approved by Rotax? Rotax has never approved any other filter and I doubt they did now. If they did it would be a first and unless challenger filter built in the mechanics and specs of the Rotx filter that would make it more unlikely. WmInce
According to Dean Vogel, Lockwood Aviation Supply, the only filter that is recommended is the Rotax filter.
Runtoeat
OK, the Challenger filter is not approved. I'll go back to "plan A" which is to buy a box of filters at Oshkosh which will carry me thru the next few years of oil changes.
Anticept
It's probably approved by the FAA by PMA, but not by the manufacturer.
