FlyingMonkey
How do you fare in crosswinds or gusty conditions with a very low approach speed? (Or do you have a second runway option?) I fly a pretty slow approach, usually 52-55 knots. If it's gusty or strong winds I just use 55kt and 15° flaps instead of 52kt and 30°. Seems to work out really well. Solo in calm winds I sometimes let the speed come down on very short final (the last 50-100 feet) to 48-50kt. The airplane lands very well that way, very gentle. Mine's a 2007 CTSW, BTW. FlyingMonkey
Hello The ctls & ctsw can both be flown on approach at 45 kts with full flap 35 for CTLS & 40 for CTSW with some power at most weights Directional stability is slightly better on the CTLS Generally the Empty wt of the CTSW is less than the CTLS so a bit lighter but wing area is same Winglets are different too. I prefer 50-55kt with no power, just to make sure I can reach the runway if the engine fails. But I'm sure you are correct, 45kt with some power in could certainly make for a gentle approach and landing.
