Hi Dick,

That was quite a trip! Nice flight.

At one point  your were doing 177MPH. That's an impressive speed.

I didn't know of (flightaware.com). I looked up my tail # and was able to see my last flight from Florida to Pennsylvania, including the weather at the time, on Jan. 20th.

Thank you,

Rich

Hi Tip and Matt.  Sorry we missed you Matt.  We had a great time and enjoyed the landscape out your way.  Really nice country.  We landed at KYIP slightly under two hours after we left KIDI.  That's a quick 250 NM trip.  Matt, we'll have to see if we can get some CT's owners together and Port Clinton would be good. Believe there's two or three strips on the islands in Lake Erie we could hop around to.  If you or Tip know of any airports a little closer to Michigan that's tucked back in the woods and hills out your way with a place to eat nearby, that might be a good spot too.  To get to anything scenic around here, one has to go to Northern or Western Michigan which puts it out too far for a day trip for you guys.

Hi Rich.  I hoped the link for the Flight Aware would provide some information others might use.  Others on the forum may not be using Flight Following.  This is a great aid for safe flight and the bonus is that it provides data that websites like Flight Aware can use to generate the nice graphs of one's progress (or lack of progress if there's strong headwinds!)  As you know, FF alerts one to nearby or conflicting traffic - providing the Flight Center is not too busy to provide traffic updates.  I have had momentary lapses where traffic was not reported to me while using FF at busy airports. This was only momentary.  On this particular trip yesterday, while going over Cleveland at 8,500' I glanced out my right side to see an Airbus climbing out from Cleveland and coming directly at us.  Luckily, Phil was flying right seat and because he is a retired commercial pilot, he knew we were OK from the conversation between the Airbus and ATC.  Phil relayed to me that ATC alerted the Airbus and the Airbus also reported his TCAS showed us.  Just then, the Airbus stopped his climb, leveled off and passed directly under us, about 1,000' below.  I'm fairly new to this and have not ever had a aircraft, let alone a HUGE aircraft, change it's flight to avoid me and slide below!  Wish I would have had my camera available.

Hi Dick

Nice to see you and Phil experienced a nice tailwind. Much the same as I had last fall flying down to Fl from Mi.

I'll be heading back to Mi next week once the midwest weather looks more favorable. Looking forward to hooking up with you guys again.
