Guess it will be another 6 months without being on the sectional.

It would have been very easy for me to fly in without a clearance, glad i saw this.

John H:  Why do they need a tower?  Seems a reversal on the trend.

There is  a NOTAM: KUAO 10/005 Service Tower Commissioned. 15 OCT 14:00 2015 Until Permanent. Created: 12 OCT 16:34 2015

Why does it have a tower? One word covers it: politics.

Many pilots in this area have questioned the need for this tower. To be fair, there is a lot of traffic, some instrument approaches, business jets are based there, several FBO's, a very large helicopter outfit, Van's Aircraft is based there, and there are several other small airports are in the vicinity.

Also, I think it has more traffic than the Salem airport which has a tower. It is also debatable that the Salem tower is necessary. Again, politics.

Without having the new Seattle sectional in front of me, but I have seen it, I recall that the new D & E airspace that goes along with towered operations, is depicted.

However, you are correct that it is shown on the new sectional as a non-towered airport to include the fact that the tower frequency is not shown..

The FAA had plenty of time to ensure that this information was on the new sectional. The tower itself was completed and ready last April.
