Cold start fixed

Since setting the choke to only close about half way, I now get engine started first turn of key.

Something's wrong with this.

Have the carbs ever been overhauled or dis-assembled? What is your idle rpm after you are warmed up? What position is your throttle at start?

Carbs. were done back in Aug. 1700 rpm throttle closed to start. As I said before my HKS engine

is set up same way and starts perfect, not sure why but HKS has been that way for 8 years??

I would like to understand why.

Was it hard to start before the carb work?

On first start have you tried full choke and crack the throttle?

Look at the end of the choke shaft and make sure the little center punch dot on the end of the shaft is pointing toward the pipe like extrusion on the carb.

Ok thanks I 'll look its never been the best starting plane when cold, warm days ok. I tried

 all those things you said sometimes it seemed to be better but right now its the

best its been all winter.

Also try closing your plug gap to its minimal gap stated for your engine. Wide gaps make harder starting in cold weather.
