April winds in the eastern Sierra

I did a number of flights out of Lee Vining this morning.  Its early for the big winds to start.  Very high pressure today.

One my final take off I used full deflections while I was still in ground effect, except there was no ground effect it was being gusted away.  I even did a landing with less than 30 degrees.

I'm motivated to fly a lot right now, its going to be an interesting April.

I find the lower the flap setting the more rudder authority I have to maneuver close to ground while landing. Recently, I used  -6 setting to land at KTMB (Kendal -Tamiami), with a 23 knot X wind and one passenger on board.

Cheers
