procharger
Well thought I had everything worked out but mag check today, engine dies when I switch to number 2 runs and starts great on number one,not sure what is wrong switched modules from one to the other still want run on number 2. Didn't check it yesterday when we started it up, it was all good before we pulled engine any suggestions on how to troubleshoot problem.
Anticept
Does it just... die, or does it sputter and die? If it's straight dead, check connections, a wire is probably loose. With all the stuff you have to do to the back of the engine, did anyone check the distance on the pickups? Your ground wire for that module also might still be grounding. Roger Lee
My bet is a wire too. Not a bad module.
procharger
Yes we set the pickups with feeler gauge, when I go to number 2 it dies cuts off.
Anticept
Definately wire then. Start with checking to see if you are still grounded when switched in 2 position.
procharger
Is there any chance something happened behind flywheel. Or because its runs everything is ok? What is best way to check to see if I am grounded on 2. My rotax guy is leaving town for week so I am on my on till he gets back
Roger Lee
Some have damaged wires behind or around the flywheel.
Anticept
Procharger: disconnect the battery negative terminal. Disconnect the #2 6 pin connector on the engine. Leave switch in off position. Take a continuity tester (or ohmmeter) to the negative lead (not the battery, the WIRE), and to the appropriate ground wire in the 6 pin connector, aircraft side. You should have continuity. Now, switch to each of the other positions. "Both" and "2" should NOT have continuity, "1" and "off" should. Any other configuration is cause for concern and is a wiring problem. Let us know the results.
