Buckaroo
I'd like to take the bottom of the two carbs off just to check for any debris. Can someone advise me on this task please?

Buckaroo
Roger thanks for the great posting and video! I think I can handle the procedure now. Great resource!
Doug G.
I tried it on my CTLS when I was doing my annual. The setup at the back of the carbs is not flexible and I could not raise the carb high enough to clear the drip tray. I had to go back to the old method of removing the trays first. Roger Lee
Hi Doug, It does work on the LS. Just loosen the collar between the carb and airbox. Just push back hard. If that isn't enough then loosen the vibration isolator in the middle of the airbox mounting. You just need to loosen it so it can move back just a tad. The carb will pop out and just maneuver it up away from the tray. You might need a little muscle, but not a lot. I check all my CT's now this way for carb debris and float weights. I haven't ever had one this doesn't work on. I use it on other aircraft too.
Doug G.
Roger, thanks. I did loosen the back clamps, but was maybe concerned at putting too much pressure on things. I'll have to give it another try in the future.
Roger Lee
A little muscle won't hurt. The airbox can move some especially if you loosen that isolator nut so it can move a tad.
Tom Baker
For the CTLS I prefer to just drop the drip trays. I can have them off in about the same time it takes to undo the clamps. On the CTSW I pop them loose from the carb flange. I prefer the CTLS set up over the CTSW.
Roger Lee
I hate trying to get those drip trays off and get a wrench and my chubby little hand in there. I always want to take those drip trays off with my Dremel tool and a cutoff blade. But the bottom line is do it any way you want so long as the end result is the same.
