Securing EGT leads

John Vance

Recommended Posts

I've recently experienced a second EGT failure, and am interested in advice on securing the leads in a way that will help prevent a third. Should small-radius bends be avoided? Should it be doubled back and zip-tied to the rigid portion of the probe to limit motion in that area? Any other things that might help?

I wouldn't double it back on itself. I normally have a fairly big loop, before it gets tied to the engine mount on the left side. The right goes into the wire bundle to the Dynon. The biggest issue I see is the left lead gets abused when checking or adding oil, because of its location near the oil tank.
