Tom Baker
42 minutes ago, Roger Lee said: I agree with Fred. If the fuel valve is closed during storage whether overnight or one month no fuel should leak past the shut off valve. The fuel shut off should be used every time you're done flying. That is one of my gripes with the CTLS checklist and teaching students. The checklist tells you to turn on the fuel when you start your preflight inspection, but it doesn't tell you to shut it off when you are done flying. My other big gripe is that it tells you to take the cowling off, but doesn't tell you to put it back on. I know it should be common sense, but when teaching someone to use a checklist the items need to be on the list.
FlyingMonkey
Totally agree Tom. With the emphasis that modern flight training places on checklist use, any item NOT on a checklist is prone to being neglected. The whole point of the checklist is that items should not have to be remembered, but just read off the list. Leaving "obvious" items off the list completely defeats that purpose. FlyingMonkey
BTW, I just got back from a flying vacation 600nm in each direction over five days, the CT had zero issues starting, hot or cold.
