  1. Took 8 hours of instruction in a 152 while my airport was closed for resurfacing. The worst 8 hours I've spent in a GA plane. Better hope that the person next to you has used his mouthwash and deodorant.
  2. Go to an old-school locksmith and ask him to copy your key using a Taylor F79E blank.
  3. Doug,

Send me your email address. I have some input on the issues you've raised, but I can't post them here.

Concerning Roger's comments about the Bullyhawk system, there's no reason why it can't retard the timing w/o a flywheel change, and I suspect it does. The Rotax way of doing things usually cost the user 3x more. I think you got a great deal.

Keep in mind that Roger is a firefighter by trade. His knowledge is wide but not very deep. I don't confront him publicly bec...

  5. I talked to Carol about this about 3 years ago. She said, in so many words, that the FAA doesn't understand the regulations and that it was up to her and her husband to interpret the rules for the FAA, since the Carpenters knew more than the FAA did. That's why you hit a roadblock in OK. It didn't help matters that all her graduated LSR-M minions accepted and spread everything sh...

  6. I have tundra tires, 300 hours and mine vibrate, right side more than left.
  7. My two cents. The FAR's are crystal clear that the owner/operator is primarily responsible for maintaining an aircraft in an airworthy condition. Every pp student is tested on this, usually both on the knowledge test and the oral. The word primarily puts the owner/operator's responsibility above the inspector and this has been borne out by FAA enforcement actions. Must be important to the FAA. The annual inspection certifies that the aircraft is airworthy at the time the inspector signs and dates the logbook. Nothing more. Does the inspector have the ethical responsibility to tell the owner that he will need new tires soon? Of course. Does he have the privilege of withholding his signature because he thinks there's only 6 months of life left in the tires? I don't see any justification in the FARs to do that. Can he put a notation in the log to that effect? Absolutely. I guess that if you are an A&P IA or a LSRM, you have to do what you have to do to sleep nights. I'm ok with that and I think most of your customers are as well. I just think that a glance at the FARs is also useful.
