  1. Roger that, do you suppose that is why nose gear vicinity Ty downs and equivalent ramp anchor points have never been part of GA.
  2. My aero club closed down partially due to major damages to a fleet of 172s and 152s caused by micro bursts slamming the tails into the ground. They became uneconomically repairable. Even though some of the 172s have tie down stations/eye-bolts near the nose gear not sure if any ramps do. I think the bolts may have been originally intended to tie-down/move the aircraft by rail or truck. Perhaps micro bursts are a low probability to consider when building airport ramp tie-downs. Or, maybe nose tie-downs cause too much structural stress in windy conditions when all axis’s are tied down?
  3. Considering unexpected GPS outage or spoofing, one may also consider: HH VOR and ATC flight following—traffic advisories/ radar navigation based on Transponder squawk.
  4. Adsb is gps based. GPS is becoming less tenable more and more due to bad actors. Thought I’d pulse fellow pilots currently focused on anything GPS for alternatives. Please excuse me diverging from this threads topic. Kindly, what is your plan for alternate navigational aids? Especially when navigating in unfamiliar airspace.
  5. https://flightaware.com/squawks/view/1/7_days/popular_new/95072/FAA_Urges_Pilots_to_Rely_on_Traditional_Navigation_Amid_Rising_GPS_Spoofing_Threats fellas, other than a sectional and whisky compass, what’s your alternate means of nav? Maybe a HH with VOR, or ?
  6. …….errr……well probably those bigO worms were migrating from the hotter southern climes……I can remember my pops had to pay for radiator water somewhere passing through Arizona, back in the 60ties…
  7. Can’t imagine having to park outside. ……. Roger you need to put up a toll gate out there in the middle of hells half acre like on Blazing Saddles and start collecting for security fencing, lights, portable seismic intrusion devices, some dobermans and RV armor plating……Didnt they make the movie Tremors on your place?….I thought so.
  8. Same general topic but for iS engines. From ROTAX.com - Introduction of new double ignition coils and new wiring harnesses for ROTAX® Engine Type 912 i (Series), 915 i (Series) and 916 i (Series) Say fella’s this SI just popped up. I got a 2013 iS within serial number range and was wondering how this upgrade improves the engine and ROM $…any insight appreciated. Doug in IL
  9. Just have heard it was important to try to influence the determination of limitations before they got handed down back in the day….not sure how doable that is now.
  10. Wonder the impact on operating limitations. I’m sure a whole thread to itself….I hear they aren’t as DAR negotiable as early on….wonder if FAA has profiled them per different MFG/Model and just dictates a set list of limitations to the applicant? sorry for thread creep. I’ll stop here.
  11. If any MFG goes by the wayside do SLSA Acft automatically default to ELSA? No processing required kind of change?
  12. Or hope the hanger withstands the elements, or the line crew doesn’t hit it, or… Anyway if the rumored coming insurance increases for the next several years happen, then it won’t matter.
  13. Might the latest FD models fair better in terms of wing replacement?
