  1. Hello everyone. We've been working to clean up our website and remove some very outdated material (like stuff on the C4 plane we don't talk about). We've also added a new page under PARTS which is for finding parts available from outside vendors (i.e. tires). It only has a few items on it for now, but we will add things as we get more requests.

  4. A customer came to me about a year ago with a fuel flow issue on his CTSW. One of the hoses which come from the downpipe from the wing had kinked. I hadn't seen that before, and put a spring inside the hose as a temporary repair. His hose change has arrived, and during replacement, I found that the Gates fuel hose is very susceptible to kinking compared to the DIN spec hose which Flight Design uses. The particular hose that was installed is the Gates Barricade Greenshield. Photos show the comparison between the hoses. The Gates hose kinks very easily, while the stock hose can actually have a lot more force applied to it before it will kink (and it doesn't kink entirely unless you clamp it that way).
  5. Flight Design has been working on a new line of aircraft and it's on display at AERO Friedrichshafen! Information is currently on the Flight Design Facebook page. More to come! https://www.facebook.com/FlightDesignCT/posts/10156049737776641
  6. Flight Design USA will be at Sebring Expo January 23-26, 2019. Here's a video for more information:
  7. Flight Design USA is auctioning an exclusive Hanhart Pioneer Preventor watch with the Flight Design logo. This would make the perfect Christmas gift for that aviator in the house for Christmas! Hanhart is a Swiss-German watch company that was established by Johann A. Hanhart in Diessenhofen, Switzerland, in 1882. Today, it makes chronographs and stopwatches. Hanhart stop watches were used by Rally Drivers and pilots since the 1930’s and are known for their accuracy and elegant designs. Proceeds from the auction sale of the watch will be donated to ‘The Hole in Wall Gang Camp’ or a charity of your choice. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, based in Ashford, Connecticut, is a nonprofit 501 organization, residential summer camp, and year-round center serving children and their families coping with cancer and other serious illnesses and conditions. www.holeinthewallgang.org The Flight Design Hanhard watch is number 5 of a limited edition of 30 watches and typically retails in the USA for over $1100.00. www.watchbuys.com/store/pc/Hanhart-Pioneer-Preventor-9-Black-Dial-19p2142.htm or www.hanhart.com Please submit your bids: fstar@rcn.com there is a minimum bid and the auction will run until December 17th 2018 in time for the watch to be shipped to you for Christmas!

  9. For a long time, Neuform had a notification on their website about a service bulletin which would increase the prop overhaul intervals. They finally released it. It's in the attachment, and should also be available on their website. TL:DR - ground adjustable props are now at a 2000 hour overhaul interval. NEUFORM Service Bulletin TM-17-01.pdf
  10. I recently got a plane in the shop which has green coolant in the engine. It also (surprise!) has a coolant leak at the water pump seal. I was not aware of green coolant being approved, so I called down to Lockwood about it. I was told that green coolant, though not prohibited, is not recommended due to the silica content. They said the silica will come out of the coolant in the wrong places, and could cause things like a leaking water pump seal. SI-912-016 goes over which coolants are permitted. It specifically lists Glysantin (which Flight Design puts in at the factory) and Dex-Cool, among others. Dex-Cool is the easiest to source here. Avoid the "universal" coolants, and the green stuff. Just use Dex-Cool. It's got the same availability and is the recommended coolant. As a side note, remember that waterless coolant is not permitted in the injected engines. For more information, refer to the SI.
  11. The website is back up. The cost of the watch is 832€, which according to Google with current exchange rates as of the time of this posting is $987.33. An absolute bargain for something so amazing. Something which symbolizes your love of aviation and the future of light aviation. Something you can wear proudly as you watch the Flight Design name develop into a staple of aviation.
