MileHighCTLS posted a topic in Maintenance Technicians .... Anywhere in the world!I need a quick clarification, cause I'm getting conflicting in formation. If I take the Light Sport Repairman course with a Maintenance authorization, what exactly is it good for? I thought I could inspect any Light Sport plane with a Special Airworthiness Certificate (SLSA), as long as I own it. But Rainbow Aviation (who offers the course) says the course and certificate is only good on experimental light sport aircraft (ELSA). Thoughts? Obviously, I'd like to take the course to use for my CTLS. By way of background, I had a repairman's certificate for a "Velocity 173" I built several years ago.

Anywhere in the world! For those of you looking to do their own maintenance and inspections out near the East coast, check out Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, VA. They are not as well known as some of the others since they do not advertise but, I highly recommend them. They also offer the Rotax service and maintenance classes (taught by Dean Vogel from Lockwood) as well as a full time A&P program. If you live in Virginia the 3 week LSRM class is practically free and very reasonable for out of staters. If you have been thinking about taking this course, check it out. http://community.brcc.edu/aviation/index.php/light-sport/
