SantaPaulaCTSW
I am planning on flying my CTSW to Oshkosh from Southern California this year. Are they any other CT Fliers planning on doing the same? And has anyone done this flight from the West Coast and what route(s) did you use. 207WF
I have made the trip from HHR for five of the past six years in my CT, excluding last summer. The routes have varied a lot, crossing the mountains as south as Colorado and as north as Glacier park. I can't really set the route until the day before I leave, and then I revise it each day according to the weather. I want to go again this year. Lots of fun! SantaPaulaCTSW
Thanks for info. I know I have to plan day to day, but its good you have made the trip successfully many times. Is there a favorite place you like to park your CT when you get there? Or do they just tell you where to park and that is that?
mocfly
I always park my Ctsw by the terminal. I make up a sign that says East of Terminal Row 623 That's where we have parked for years Chris
207WF
I have landed and parked at the ultralight strip for 3 of the 4 years, camping under the wing just outside the ultralight strip. The grass strip is plenty long for our CTs. It is a different proceedure getting in there, and you don't see the runway until the last minute turning final. I use GPS lat-long coordinates to fly the ultralight approach at 50 knots and flaps 30. You also use a lower altitude. I stop somewhere close by and call the ultralight barn on the phone, make sure I am not going to run into a swarm of powered parachutes or something.
