Rogerck
We are in the process of replacing a damaged nose wheel pant and nose wheel fork on our 2006 CTSW. Flight Design recommended using the LS pant because it has better aerodynamic rudder trim characteristics. The rear of the new nose wheel fork has a rivnut attached to a bracket that seems to be for attaching a stabilizing bolt through the middle center of the pant. However, the top of the pant is about an inch above this bracket and there is no hole in the pant to connect to the bracket. Has anyone fitted a LS pant on a SW and if so, how did you address this problem? Roger Kuhn
Roger Lee
I have not, but can it be drilled for this hole? (I know which hole you are talking about)
Rogerck
Roger, The LS pant is about 3/4 inch above the screw tab of the SW fork. This seems to imply that the LS fork loop is a bit higher. At any rate, FDUSA recommended the LS pant, but they do not have experience installing this combination. Given that the SW pant acts like a boat anchor and reduces directional stability, I'd like to make the LS pant work. My shop suggests glassing in a small cross section in the pant to accommodate the gap and bolt. Anyone else do this wheel pant combo? Roger Lee
How about taking off the pin on the wheel tab and add a long bolt with a couple of nuts and washers to extend higher so it matchs up to what you need?
