CT4ME
After much thought... more useful load would be nice. This is going to be a good question. I just couldn't think of much I'd change. Tim

Mick
Just curious, as an owner, partner, passenger or renter, if you could change 1 thing about your CT what would it be? How about fuel drains in the tanks, not just the colator?
Patrnflyr
Even though it's one of the best in the industry, I have to agree with useful load also, but it's no biggie... John

sandpiper
I would like: 1. for the stick bump to go away 2. a fuel selector valve 3. for the summer hot oil problem to go away 4. a cockpit control for oil temp control in the winter (shutters) 5. for the aileron springs to go away
chanik
What is the stick bump issue? I wish the plane were easier to camp in. There's enough room through the bulkhead with the seats out, just no easy way to make a flat sleeping surface.
sandpiper
Stick bump is slight movement of the stick in cruise flight. It kind of "bumps" in your hand. Caused by, or so I've heard, the airflow over the inboard flap hinge causing turbulence over the stabilator.
Runtoeat
Definitely a cockpit controllable door for the radiators (already mentioned in this thread). I constantly put on and take off tape, sometimes during the same day, in the "tween" Spring and Fall weather months here in Michigan. Side note - I seem to recall the new air dam that is now on new CT's at the rear wing roots is installed to break up wing turbulence and prevent it from causing "stick bump"? If so, this appears to be a retrofittable part "as required" for older CT's if FD would give approval.
sandpiper
So, does anyone know if it is a workable modification? Has FD approved any retrofits? If nobody knows, I will pursue with FD.
Ed Cesnalis
i don't seem to feel the stick bump, perhaps because i have never flown in smooth air?
Roger Lee
You probably won't see another fuel valve selector switch. FD tried that and too many crashed because they forgot to switch. So they made the fuel issue a little more idiot proof. You could also have 2-4 gals in a tank left and fly in uncoordinated flight just a little and move the fuel outboard and away from the fuel pick up. then you would be out of fuel again with fuel in both wings. Patrnflyr
I feel a slight stick bump and I have the fence at the inboard of the flap on my CTLS. The bump is slight but noticeable at the higher speeds. Everybody here has said it's just one of those things that the CT has. John

sandpiper
I think flying without the doors is already approved up to a certain airspeed.
Roger Lee
Hi Bob, Some CT's have quick release type door hinges. It is a fleet approval to fly doors off and I believe the speed is 90 knots or below. Don't quote me on the speed. It is a hurricane inside though. Take any thing out that wind can blow. Wear a snug set of headphones and wear a chum on your glasses. Other than that have fun.

airhound
Why don't we have water temp gauges. If you tape the radiator in cold weather, wouldn't you want to know water temp?
Roger Lee
The water only cools the heads so the water temp is always within a few degrees of the CHT's. No real need for a separate H2O temp gauge. Putting a water temp probe is simple and can be done on the Dynon.
