coppercity
SIERRA VISTA - A car ran into a small plane that had lost oil pressure and made an emergency landing on a state highway about 3 miles south of Sierra Vista in southwestern Arizona. FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says the single-engine, high-performance Extra Flugzeugbau EA-300 made the landing around 9:30 a.m. Saturday on State Route 90. An oncoming car then hit the aircraft's left wing tip. The car owner had minor cuts, and the pilot was not hurt. No one else was on the plane. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the accident. ----------------------------------- Just a reminder, make sure you keep your engine instruments in your scan while your flying. Think about it, how often do you glance to the right and really take in the engine indications while your just cruising watching the ground go by. I think most of us are watching during climb often, but do you slack off at cruise?
CT4ME
Geez... I hate it when the press reports things like this as a "crash landing".... 'sounds like a good solid "unplanned" landing to me... interrupted by a motorist who wasn't paying attention. Oh well, glad the outcome was good. tim
