TIA I have both XM and a GDL 39. For a few weeks last year flew , only , with GDL 39 (No XM) and found the reception to be very good , in Central and South Florida. Rich Posted March 21, 2016 Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 Hi Bill, No problems what-so-ever with the reception. GDL-39 w/796. You can look at some pictures in my album that shows traffic on the 796 around the Jacksonville area. Trip ended in North Tampa with no reception issues. Now, with the ADS-B out it's even better.
