NC Bill
Is there any requirement to have the carburetor inspected other than at the 100 hr/annual? If so what and how often?
Anticept
On condition. If you have engine issues, carbs are often one of the first checks.
Tom Baker
Rotax Line Maintenance Manual calls for inspection every 200 hours. I would certainly do it at the 5 year rubber replacement.
NC Bill
Mine was last done at 575 hrs. Just had annual at 755 hrs and it was NOT done. Real world advise wanted. Have it done in a month or 2 at 775 hrs or wait a year and so it at the next annual at around 850 hrs?
Anticept
CTs are gentle on carbs. The carb inspection exists because a few aircraft cause them to resonate and the needles crack. Some people don't even do the carb inspection. As long as you exercise your plane regularly, it will last. Personally, in CTs, I think 500 hr would be more appropriate. Roger Lee
Rotax does recommend a 200 hr. The each down inspection. You make your own decision, but with the experience I have gained over the many years I see no reason to do it IF you have been doing the proper maint. and syncs every annual. There is nothing in writing for carb overhauls. If the carbs are synced every annual then I see no reason to do an overhaul until about 800-1000 hrs. if that falls within about 8 years. If it takes you 20 years to get to 800 hrs. then that's way past due. Seals, gaskets and "O" rings will breakdown long before then. If you have neglected your carbs then that may be shortened by a lot. If you do decide to tear them down every 200 hrs. then new "O" rings should be installed. The kit is about $40. p.s. Bottom line the decision falls on each owner/operator.
