bmar Report post Posted March 25, 2017 I'm looking at covers for the CTLS. Aircraft covers offers a canopy only cover, or a canopy and engine cover. What do you do when the CTLS is stored outside? Would full engine and canopy cover be the best option? Do you have to wait for the engine to cool before putting the cover on?
Roger Lee Report post Posted March 25, 2017 Try hard to not store your CT outside 24/7. On a trip for a short while is fine, but CT's as well as most LSA were never really meant for storage outside. If you are forced to cover the whole thing including the prop. If it's a travel cover then they make them for the engine, cockpit and just around the baggage door area. Don't forget the prop. The Neuform prop was never meant to be outside either.
bmar Report post Posted March 25, 2017 The issue I am having currently is there is no enclosed hangars available. I am on a waitlist, however until I can store it in a T hangar, the airport has a couple shade hangars available for $85 a month until I can get a hangar. Is the shade hangar a bad idea? Even if it has an airplane cover on in the shade hangar? I've posted ads and called all the airports around and they all have a long waitlist for hangars. :/ Thanks for your input and feedback
Roger Lee Report post Posted March 25, 2017 T-Hangar is better than nothing. The more you can keep it out of the direct sun and rain the better.
Anticept Report post Posted March 26, 2017 Shade hangar is fine. it keeps the majority of the elements off it.
Roger Lee Report post Posted March 26, 2017 If the tail sticks out from under the shade hangar make sure you cover it. The sun and rain will cause problems on the stab.
rtk Report post Posted March 26, 2017 This thread is timely as I can't find any hangar rentals in my area. Anyone have recommendations or experiences with fabric shade hangars or portable fabric hangars? I'm attempting to find a seller/distributor for one that isn't hideously expensive that I can show to my FBO and see if they'll allow me to install this at the tie down. Check with Aviation Covers Arlington WA, they offer nearly full coverage. Give them exact dimensions.
