Rotax TBO Extension

Has anyone seen specific FAA approved "other methods, techniques and practices acceptable to the Administrator" (43.13, 43.16) regarding TBO extension of SLSA Rotax engines? Methods, techniques and practices prescribed by the aircraft or component manufacturer of course are approved but do not provide for TBO extension. I know the Canadians have a protocol but I've seen nothing from the FAA that would clarify this.

Phillip, there has been a lot of discussion about Rotax TBO on our Forum.  Basically, it is as Roger says, "no different than all other GA aircraft (engines)".  In an effort to get some of my questions answered regarding the "mandatory" Rotax TBO, the following thread was started. Based on the information posted in this discussion, I am now comfortable using "on condition" for the maintenance of my Rotax engine. The following might provide answers to many of your questions:
