tfdixon
The BRS in my CTSW is due this summer for the 12 year replacement. Any hints or suggestions will be appreciated. I am sure this has been done by others so your story will be insightful. Did the 6 year repack with little inconvenience, plane was down for about 2 weeks. Big question, what happens to the old ballistic -rocket -? Can't imagine that it is shipped back to BRS. Boise Pilot

Roger Lee
The chute goes back to BRS. The rocket is yours to keep or dismantle. They ship you an entire new rocket with screws and fittings. You will have to assemble the rocket. The instructions on how to do this are clear and easy. FlyingMonkey
Can the old rocket even be fired? I think the ignition system is reused, right?
Roger Lee
Yes the old rocket can be fired. You get a completely new rocket including the canister for it and igniter system. They come in separate boxes. It is considered HazMat ground shipping only. The rocket is quite powerful and can travel a long distance so be careful if you mess with it and don't get hurt or hurt someone else. It takes no prisoners. I'm just curious. I don't have anywhere nearby safe to fire the rocket, and even if I did I'd be afraid of earning a Darwin Award.
Duane Jefts
The JATO mod might require a LOA but would be handy when trying to clear the Rockies on the next Page trip.

Here's the engine from the Sonex Jet, 292lb thrust, enough to pust the Sonex to 250mph: http://www.pbsvb.com/customer-industries/aerospace/aircraft-engines/tj-100-turbojet-engine Mount it on the belly between the mains and put big Jet-A fuel bladders in the baggage bays...
