Low Fuel Pressure

Good find Sid.  I am guessing there was enough flow past the orifice at low load and as soon as there was heavier load on the engine, the blockage chocked the flow and restricted the amount of pressure the fuel pump could provide.

That restrictor orifice doesn't affect the fuel pump or fuel flow in the sense of clogging. It's in the return line to the gascolator. It comes after the fuel pump, junctioned to the splitter above the middle of the engine to a banjo bolt, which has the carbs and the return connected on different parts.

It's supposed to go to a fuel tank and allow purging of air.

That said, I could see this helping to remove air from the fuel pump, which is probably the cause of the fuel pressure issue.
