pilot1950
after hose replacement oil pressure would slowly drop from 40s to 20s. oil levels ok. Aux pressure gauge confirmed engine gauge readings. What next. Oil regulator?
Tom Baker
First visually check the lines for the oil tank to the pump to make sure you don't have a kinked line. Especially the line the goes from the cooler to the oil pump. Based solely on experience with other aircraft engines I would say to check the oil pressure relief valve for debris. It is possible that a little piece of something found its way to between the ball or mushroom and the seat.
Roger Lee
Perform the oil purge again before you run it again.

Tom Baker
A well placed spring of the correct diameter will keep that from happening.

Is this a spring that goes inside the oil line from the cooler to the oil pump or something like a unicoil that goes on the outside of that line (outside the orange wrapping)? Can someone provide an ID and source for the line if it goes inside, or OD and source for the outside? Thanks
Tom Baker
Inside the hose.
Fly Boss
I guessed it was inside the hose. Now I'm needing to know the inside diameter of that hose and a possible source for this spring. Anyone have this information? Thanks
AGLyme
You can probably buy and/or spec springs from Roger Lee... He is a big proponent of the fix.
Jacques
https://hambydairysupply.com/hose-spring-5-8-9-16/ 17mm hose 5/8´´ (16mm) spring would be fine
Tom Baker
The oil hose is 12mm. I just take a piece with me and find a tension spring the fits. I then stretch the spring out and cut to length.
