Buckaroo
Today I went out to fly my CTSW and noticed my left brake grabbing and jerking the plane to the left. We’ve had lots of snow and freezing taxi ways. Today my hanger was probably 25 degrees. Anyway while taxing while test my brakes the right one would squeal with the plane jerking left. I tested this over and over and the same thing happened jerking to the left. Any solutions or insights are as usual appreciated!
FlyingMonkey
Are your pads over worn? If they get too worn down the piston can get tilted and the brakes won't release.
Roger Lee
Need so more info. Do you have Matco's or Marc brakes? It they are Matco's have you worn the pads down to the rivets? If they are Marc's are the pads too thin and now the puck isn't is sticking out too far and isn't releasing enough and or you rubbing on the metal part of the pad? Buckaroo
I’m checking things out and will report back. The runway has been snowed in and I was doing a bunch of T.O and landings the day before in two inches of snow. It would grab to my left and squeal on the right side. Thanks guys! Roger Lee
Then they may be worn too thin and on rivets or you may have a brake fluid contaminated pad or one that's been overheated. Time to take a look.
Buckaroo
Pads are fine. Icy and cold here 3 degrees. It’s been freezing rain snow blizzards etc. I wonder if the brakes are loaded with ice etc?
Roger Lee
If they got wet in that kind of cold they could have ice.

Yes, I think the pads are loaded with ice. One would think after 10 or 15 brake pulls they’d clear. These didn’t. Ive found in extreme cold or hot conditions things act up!
