Animosity2k
So whenever I fly with my AP on I constantly have to trim nose up / down. I try to trim the plane as best as I can before engaging. Is this common? I would have thought the AP would automatically trim for pitch. Is it only for Roll and Yaw? I had thought it was a 3 Axis system. Sorry if I sound arrogant, still new to so much of this and trying to learn! Thanks everyone
Tom Baker
The AP should be 2 axis, pitch and roll. The third axis is yaw, and I have yet to see a CT with yaw control. It should be capable of holding altitude.

Tom, it holds alititude or seems to but its constantly (every maybe 10-15min) asking me to retrim for pitch.

Animosity2k
Dynon not the tru trak.
AGLyme
I have the Dynon... The system does alert “trim up” or “trim down” but only in the early stage of the AP selection. Once in a while, it will alert for a change but only in a goofy wind situation. I have flown with the AP in hours-long stretches with no Alerts... after the initial alerted trim. sandpiper
I am reasonably sure that these autopilots do not auto trim. When the servos are pushing or pulling with enough force in order to maintain a set altitude they alert you to trim. As such, you become the auto trim. AGLyme
I agree there is no auto trim... but there is a ton of auto happiness in the CT

FlyingMonkey
Your AP should not have to "hunt" for trim if you are flying at a steady speed. If you change speed or throttle setting you might need additional trim until things stabilize, but once in a stable speed/attitude, you should not need any trim changes. There may be a sensitivity setting that needs to be tweaked.
