okent
The first two of 3 takeoffs today I had a high fuel flow alarm when rotating off the runway. Lasted about 5 seconds, 10.5-11 gph. The time it took for me to glance at the gauge and hit the alarm ack on the D100, flow rate was back to normal. Very brief. The only change was that I replaced the ignition modules last weekend. Flow rates at cruise are normal. Any ideas? Thanks
Tom Baker
I have seen this happen from time to time. It may be that the fuel flow transducer is starting to go bad, but it may be nothing at all.
okent
Thanks Tom. I figure that as long as it's not hiccuping and there's not fuel pouring out of the plane it's a sensor or something. I'm due for annual in April but I'll run it by my A&P next week. Mikemike
I had the same problem with my CTLS. If there is no petrol in the plates under the carburetor, then the clamp on the sensor is probably a little loose. I used a pair of pliers to pinch them down and after that the problem was gone. AGLyme
Okent, I had a similar alarm... right after I crossed Lake Michigan (thank God) on my way back from OSH... went away as quickly as it was on. I circled over an airport just in case (at 7,500 feet)... never reappeared. Naturally I had it checked out with FD, Chalked it up to computers being computers. okent
Thanks for the info everyone. Olaf, where do I check for the sensor?
Tom Baker
The fuel flow transducer is located down in the tunnel just before the firewall in a CTLS. A CTSW it is just forward of the firewall in about the same spot. There may be some cross over with the early CTLS's
okent
Thanks Tom. I switched out the ignition modules and wondered if that might have jogged something lose but my A&P was watching me like a hawk so I figure he would have smacked my hand if I was doing something stupid. Charles_Riley
I'm using the LevelPro ProAlert 1000 Audible & Visual Alarm device for a long time without any trouble and also the support team is very helpful. So you can check this device from Icon Process Controls website: https://iconprocon.com/product/proalert-1000-audible-visual-alarm/
