Al Downs
Recently had a problem with one of my Dynon 120's. When I got a replacement naturally I had to reset all the alarms, temps, etc. I found differences between Rotax numbers and then numbers in the POH. Is Rotax better to use than FD? What is the recommended prop pitch for climb and for cruise. I have one plane at 24 degrees, one at 25 degrees and two at 26 degrees. Garrett Gee
Normally, you have to abide by what the manufacturer states. The aircraft is “certified” by the manufacturer, and while the appliance manufacturer (Rotax in this case) might have recommendations/requirements, it is usually the aircraft manufacturers limitations/settings you have to follow, unless they specifically say to follow the appliance manufacturers limits. I don’t know what is the ideal prop pitch, but I would go with what FD says if they have a recommendation.
