procharger
I guess we have to unwrap our pipes according to Rotax, what are everyone's thoughts on this SB?

Anticept
Oh, it's a service letter. Basically, that's a "cover our ass" letter. The cracked exhaust happens anyways, wrapped or not. Had several cracked pipes. Blaming it on wrap gets a big X to doubt from me. I find that keeping the ball and knuckle joints lubricated (joints that lock up are a well known stress phenomenon in exhausts), and the propeller balanced far more important. Moisture being held by the wrap leading to corrosion? Ours are stainless steel exhausts... The collapsed pipe though pictured in it? THAT one is interesting. I suspect that occurred in aircraft with poor airflow and the wrap just made it worse. It's a long stack too... I've had wrapped exhausts on several aircraft lasting for more than a couple thousand hours easy, and not once had any of these issues, on CTLS (untested on others). Anticept
Permatex Nickel Anti-Seize. Not copper. Copper is corrosive to stainless (albeit very slowly), but also the temp tolerance of copper anti-seize is too low.
Tom Baker
McFarlane Aviation has been pushing this, https://www.mcfarlaneaviation.com/products/product/DAM20-4.0/ . I have not used any yet, but I picked up a sample at Oshkosh. A friend picked up a sample at Sun'n Fun and used it on his Powerflow exhaust on his Cardinal. Haven't taken it apart yet, so we will see.
