procharger
If you pull one wing does the other one have to be supported?
Roger Lee
Absolutely. When you go to pull one of the spare pins both wings MUST be supported or you can damage your roof when a wing falls. If you have questions give me a call. Anticept
It is possible, but STRONGLY discouraged to do this with only one person. Be ready to catch the flaps or they'll drop and hit your fuselage when you pull. Have two jacks or stepladders with towels too under the wings. The wings are heavy. I use duct tape on the flaps and ailerons to keep them from falling. It also holds the flaps in place for sliding the wings back on. I have threatened to build a rolling jack/fixture to make removing and installing wings a single person operation. For now I have a friend who has been trained in wing removal when I have to do one to do.
Roger Lee
I usually do it myself. I have an engine lift with a tire on top to be up against the bottom of the wing and a 6' ladder with a blanket on the other wing. I do agree with Tom two people are a little easier and faster, but one can do it. You many need the second person for the extra pair of hands to slide them in or out and push the spar pin back in place..
Tip
I have done wing pulls myself uses a scaffold under each wing. The dolly wheels make it easy. https://www.harborfreight.com/900-lb-multipurpose-scaffold-63050.html
Jim Meade
I use the same procedure as Tip.

Anticept
The people speaking up about doing it solo are the people with lots of obvious related experience. I am not sure of procharger's experience wing pulling, but with the kind of question asked, I spoke up about it being discouraged and will let him decide when to do it solo . cdarza
I pulled a wing without support on the other side (complete duh moment ! DONT DO THIS). The spar hit the roof as the wing dropped and I consider myself to be EXTREMELY lucky there was no damage. Almost heart attack moment lol

Roger Lee
I had always heard around 75 pounds. When it's out and the spar is still in it's box my wife can lift it up and down.
