round_peg Posted October 4, 2011 Report Share Posted October 4, 2011 Can someone explain the process of installing an OAT probe for a Garmin GTX 327 transponder? My radio shop says it's not only possible but sort of easy (remains to be seen). One issue is where to locate the probe (2006 CTSW). Somewhere in the cowling in front of the engine seems logical. coppercity Posted October 5, 2011 Report Share Posted October 5, 2011 Yes the readings seem accurate. The probe is inserted thru a small hole in the cover and sticks down slightly from the bottom of the wing into the airstream. From that location it's easy to feed the wires into the black conduit the position light wires are housed in. Make a quick disconnect plug at the wing root in case the wings need to be slide out.
