Safety Officer
When replacing the oil pressure sender it only gets 90 in/lbs. If you over tighten it with this flared type threads then by the time it gets in all the way a cracked housing will be the result.
Runtoeat
Info like this is why I hang out here. Seeing a crack like that on the casing would definitely ruin someone's day! Thanks.
Tad Olmsted
Adding thread tape will cause this as well, not to mention the sender uses the oil pump for a ground. The pump is a tapered NPT and needs to only be snug. Loctite 222 or 242 on the threads will keep it in place and ensure no leaking will occur. Roger Lee
I just had someone call me and this happened again. Please be careful not to over tighten this oil pressure sender. This is a tapered thread so it does't need a lot of tightening. A new oil pump housing is $314.
