Roger Lee
Hi Everyone, Here are some CTLS 912is pictures you may enjoy. Looks like FD has hit the ground running with the new 912is engine. Should be a good match up.
CT4ME
Officially called the CTLSi, huh? Look at that big 'ol light...
DocRon
Not that I need a new engine for 1800 hours or so, but it's a nice idea.
Tip
What's up with that exhaust pipe?
Roger Lee
The new 912is isn't really a retro fit type engine setup. It would take a major aircraft re-work to do this and be expensive.
CT4ME
A New Feature of the CTLSi that caught my eye: New Fuel Header Tank and Fuel Selector Valve - plus one extra gallon of fuel. Great news! This probably means that you won't have to worry about those last 5 gallons sloshing around on either side, and that the entire tank becomes "usable" fuel. I would guess this feature easily offsets the extra 22 lbs that was added to the CTLSi. Of course, you'll now have 1 extra thing to worry about: Position of the fuel selector. Tom Baker
The new 912iS comes with a dual electric fuel pump set up, and the return fuel goes back to the tank. That is the reason for the header tank and the selector valve. It needs to go back to where it came from to keep from pumping it overboard. CT4ME
Tom, Does the header tank act as a collection point from both wings? How big is it? What are the choices on the selector? Tim
Tom Baker
Tom, Does the header tank act as a collection point from both wings? How big is it? What are the choices on the selector? Tim I don't know any airplane specifics, but had a chance to see the new engine yesterday, and have its components explained. The fuel pumps put pressure into the system at 41 PSI, and more volume than needed. The excess is returned to the tank. If you returned it to a tank you were not using it would pump it overboard. Lockwood is getting ready to mount one on an Aircam next to a 912ULS for testing. Tom
