Ed Cesnalis
Okay, I gotta have one of these for my wing. Pretty affordable. http://www.feiyu-tech.com/products/28/
FlyingMonkey
I would consider it, let's see some video! Will it dampen vibration too?
Ed Cesnalis
Sure the primary reason for the gimbal would be to dampen. The ability to pan, and dip, even 90* with smooth motorized movement is the big bonus.
Anticept
I use a 360 degree camera.
Ed Cesnalis
I mean't look strait down when I said 90* like overhead aerial instead of oblique aerial photography. It does pan 360. Or you could have a motorized attitude change to look strait down.
Ed Cesnalis
I would consider it, let's see some video! Will it dampen vibration too? Those six rubber vibration dampeners probably will.
FlyingMonkey
How does it mount, and how is it powered, by internal battery or a cable?
Ed Cesnalis
Both the battery and the gimbal should have internal batteries. The gimbal I ordered runs 13 hours on internal batteries. If I can't fasten to my existing go pro mount I'll use the hard point meant for tie down.
FlyingMonkey
Is there a remote for the gimbal that enables control from inside the cockpit? Combined with the GoPro iPad/phone preview, you could see what the camera is seeing while moving it about. Probably a good time to have the autopilot on, if you are fiddling with cameras, though! Ed Cesnalis
Yes there is a remote for gimbal and camera. Yes the auotpilot is a huge aid. I have been spending my mornings in the lee of the 13,500' Ritter Range. On a dead calm morning its a scary place to be in a CT. The winds are smooth, I was climbing at 2,000fpm then 30 seconds later I couldn't climb then I hit another river of smooth air going another direction that results in an unusual attitude even with the AP flying both axis. I started getting upset repeatedly so I bailed for lower altitudes. I remember the day Steve Fosset went down at Minaret Lake, it was generally turbulent that day. Yesterday on a calm day I was in the same spot and it was scary. I feel as vulnerable as a leaf or a bug. This shot and all my shots show the need for stabilization. I call this 'Cowpie Volcano'. Ed Cesnalis
I did it, most of the money was for a black GOPRO IV. Looks like it will fasten to my existing GOPRO mount.

Ed Cesnalis
Here's 2 minutes with the 4k capable camera. Camera is hard mounted, haven't figured out how to mount the gimbal yet. Roger Lee, your wing mount is what I need I think.
