Buckaroo
As you know I'm the happy new owner of a 2007 CTSW with 680 hours on her. She has been meticulously maintained since new. She's now sitting waiting for the spring thaw. Question: She has pink coolant fluid in perfect levels in the over flow presently. When I start flying her and I need to add coolant I want to use Evans. I'm not sure what coolant is in there now and I read something about not mixing coolants from other brands with Evans. Can I buy Evans and not worry about adding to the unknown pink stuff? Thanks all!
Doug G.
No, and there is no reason to go to Evans. You would need to do a radiator flush, and, you run the risk of someone accidentally adding water. It seems to me that Evans was no longer recommended, but I'll let the experts comment on that. Buckaroo
I'm glad I asked this! If I have to add some I need to be up to date on this!
Doug G.
I think all of us use Dex Cool 50/50 premix.
gbigs
I think all of us use Dex Cool 50/50 premix. Yes. This is the stuff. And you should not need to be adding coolant...we added none in two years. If you are seeing that problem it may indicate other issues.
FlyingMonkey
Evans runs hotter, too. Stick to Dexcool 50/50.
Buckaroo
Now if I order Dexcool can I add it to my unknown pink reservoir to tip it off?
Tom Baker
Now if I order Dexcool can I add it to my unknown pink reservoir to tip it off? The Dexcool is available at most auto parts stores and also Walmart.
cdarza
I would also suggest not using Evans. Runs hotter and you have the issue of not being able to add regular coolant.
Buckaroo
Ok I found the coolant entry in the engine log book! Dex Cool 50/50 was used last. Thanks everyone!
gbigs
Now if I order Dexcool can I add it to my unknown pink reservoir to tip it off? You don't 'top it off' There is a mid line on the reservoir that you should be at or just below.

Anticept
Don't use evans. It's causing problems due to gelling from moisture getting into the system, and is now shunned. It's likely to be removed from any Rotax documentation soon.
